That was a cool shot, but I was a little saddened when I saw it was 23 shots, one for each trail and one for the foreground in the morning sun.

For a compoitie, it's pretty cool. Impossible to make without star trails.

Anyone been having trouble with the Earthshots images not loading recently? or is it just me?

Weird. I thought it might have been an ad-block thing, but disabling adblock doesn't do the trick...

Just tried Chrome and IE8 works fine, Firefox was what I tried earlier with no problems

Yeah I'm not impressed with that. It's obviously two pictures.

    Well that's what I meant :P

More what I meant was that its not a convincing composite. Getting more DR is one thing but when it's not realistic, however impressive it may be, I don't like it.

^ yeah, agreed. I think some detail is lost in the ice and I bet the color woulda been awesome. Maybe less of a silhouette though.

A "very sophisticated shooting technique"... aka Photoshop. Cool effect that I'd be interested to know how he did it, but it's on a similar level with the shooting stars composite from earlier.

yeah, there's some startrail processing options out there that make the trails look like comets. I mean it's kinds cool looking I guess but it's so unrealistic...

Yeah, and somehow he made them spiral, almost like he zoomed during the trail, but I doubt he did that in camera...

I did it once on accident. It is pretty easy to do.

Has anybody else been unimpressed with earthshots these days? I feel like the quality of pictures has really declined. I used to be excited to check my email with the picture of the day.... now I feel like they are just random animals on a safari or some random landscape with everybody just saying "stunning capture"
