I looked and it appears they use 1/4'' which is cool, but I wish they had a 1/2''-1'' option. I like the chunkier look.

That gives me another thought for my wall. I am still deciding on what I'll do for size, but something 32x48 sounds about right, even 40x60 would be nice.

Yeah dude, $113 shipped for lustre or glossy. More for fuji pearl. They sell mounting blocks as well so that you don't have to hot glue binder clips to the back like I do.

The problem is it takes so long from when you order to when it delivers.

I've had orders from whcc come so quickly at times it's like they knew I was going to order 3-4 days prior to my actual order.

The quick shipping from Miller's (next day even through this latest snowstorm) almost makes up for the ROES software they make you use.

So I'm set to order this:

I'm going to get it BIG, probably 32x28 or 40x60ish.

Thinking about canvas vs. gatorboard, vs print. I don't want to frame it, is the gatorboard nice enough to just hang on it's own and look good? I'm tempted to do that rather than a canvas for something different.

Yes, if you order the "Standount" from BAY, it will be mounted to 3/4 to 1'' thick gator. They look rad floated off the wall.

That's what I'm thinking. Do I want the wrap kind they call "thinwrap" or just a regular?

I think I need the float off the wall because the wall is only very slightly off-white and a brown hue.

I like the look of the black gator on the side. I am not sure about the "thinwrap", but I assume it wraps the image around like a canvas?

I need to also take a look at this in PS and make sure it's all good for a large print, I haven't printed this image before. Gonna order a bunch of others too I think to fill the walls in the new house.

Yeah, I wasn't seeing the standout when I typed that, just the thin gatorboard with a small wrap. The standout one looks nicer though now that I found it.

I just do the 1/4" and then hot glue binder clips to the back to pop it off the wall. I'm cheap.

Standouts look good but I always worry about damaging them if I ever need to move them. I go with canvas for everything and another reason is it's cheaper AND it hides a lack of resolution better. For me I do the biggest canvases cgproprints does then I put a solid black edge on it instead of a wrap as I think it looks a bit cleaner.

    Nice shot BTW.

My printer has been out of action for a couple months as my home workstation was ripped apart. Got some new paper in yesterday so finally put everything back together and printed off some test shots.

Nothing makes me want to take pictures like printing things. Why do I forget this?

How about printing my things? Haha!

Oh, and the other reason to print things:

The mother-in-law decided she wanted another set of the Christmas pics and so she took them off of Facebook and had them printed at the drug store. My wife saw them and brought one back for me to see how butchered they were. My lord. White balance futzed with, recropped and stretched and printed on pebbly tissue paper.

Look, I try not to be precious about my pics but I do work on them and try to do a good job. When I see that... well, I wasn't happy. I printed another full set for her and told her to burn the other ones and explained that if she did that again I'd buy her grandchildren motorbikes and skydiving lessons.

The 24x36 canvas showed up today. It looks freaking AWESOME! The grit from the canvas and the black and white processing really make this look fantastic. Hopefully the customer is as stoked as I was.

Got a bunch of 4x6s to make more cards. 8 pack of these:

for a customer. Also got 12 others to make a "Holiday Cape Cod Greeting Card Set" thing for Etsy for the holidays. Got a nice gift box from Photographer's edge as well and it looks pretty snazzy.

I had a customer order a 40"x60" canvas of one of my boston skyline images. I got a good deal from COD on this:

I was a little worried about the quality of the print at that size, as this is a cropped 16MP file from my D7000 but it looks great.

I'd never printed this image on canvas or particularly large before - came out awesome.

Only bummer is that the two people standing in the center are more noticeable at a large size.

It's basically impossible to not get the people in the photo. Seems like every single person who crosses the street stops to take a selfie or iphone shot minimum. There's also usually a bridal party.

    Great mix of and today.

A customer ordered a 24x36" canvas of this lupine image from a few years back. I've never printed it before and it looks AWESOME. Then, as I was showing someone how awesome it was I dropped it on my desk and almost broke it in half and had to order a second for the customer.

I printed 3 different shots of the Disney castle I had from the last few trips and put them in a tryptic frame and hung it. Although, they were only 4x6. It looks pretty good. My Canon Pixma is really awesome in printing borderless. My older HP Photosmart could not touch the IQ of the Canon.
    Stupidity angers me.
