    Homework Assignment #30 - "Night" -Jan 29- Feb 14 - COMPLETE!

    Guidelines (just to keep us all on track)

    * Photo(s) must relate to the Theme in some way. Creative relation to the theme is certainly allowed (and encouraged). Anything that is related in some way is legal.
    * Assignment is open.
    * Only photos that have been shot within the assignment date range are allowed.
    * No signup is required, participation is encouraged regardless of skill or equipment level (after all, its not the camera, it’s the photographer,)…we’re here to have fun.
    * Photo size limit: 800px on the longest side
    * Basically, photograph however you like and normally do…whatever photography is to you. As many (or few) bodies/lenses/formats//Post-processing as you’d like. Sticking to basic PP is encouraged, tho’.
    * If you’d like, post brief but relevant photo information and note PP (if any) is done. Maintain EXIF data if possible.
    * Keep comments on topic, constructive, and considerate.
    * Have fun!!!

    Night Stage
    Tweaked some levels and cooled the white balance a bit.

    My first try at startrails--didn't have the cable release with me, so this is 20 thirty second exposures stacked... works okay, but you can definitely see the "holes" between exposures.

    Man, no cable release is just too much work!

    Here's mine, unless I shoot something this weekend:

    ISO 200, 28mm f/6.3, 5sec, off camera 430exII triggered manually.

    ISO 200, 28mm f/6.3, 5sec, on camera 430exII w/ettl.

    Playing with a fog machine in my driveway.

    1.)

    iso 200 f/9, 25sec exposure. Lighting was 3 LED portable light packs from our camping gear. (and 2 street lights)
    Post was simple things, 10% desat on red and yellow channels, sharpening, a little cloning of a door chip I'm not proud of

    2.)

    iso 200 f/4,5 3 sec exposure. No flash, using same LED light setup as #1
    Post was sharpening, some contrast and highlight tweaking, and a 25% blue filter effect to bring out the fog a bit more.

    Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33 | ISO 100 | f/2.8 | 4.6 mm (28 mm eq) | 6.0 sec | 2/10/2010 | Picasa tweaked contrast and desaturated.
    If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would get done.
    I suck at photography

    Huh, that's odd, they're both in the same gallery.
    Here's the direct link to that first one.

    This was taken at night, I promise... Scouts honor.. Oops, I wasn't a scout so I guess that doesn't count... Anyways, it was - you'll just have to trust me.

    Canon gear.. it's in the EXIF

  14. #14

    I trust you, that's cool!

    I'm going to leave this open for a bit just to get people that may have shot something on Valentine's day but didn't post. The next homework will go up shortly.
