• Wordpress pushing "portfolio" styles and sites:

    Thought this was pretty interesting:

    here's two themes I liked:

    http://portfoliothemedemo.wordpress.com/#

too bad almost all the themes they showcase cost between $65 and $75 though.

I was checking things out in that regard but I just searched PORTFOLIO under free themes and a lot of decent ones pop up.

Have you checked any of those out?

I was looking around and I'm thinking about these couple of themes.

Has potential but I think the colors certainly need some work, I might try it to see if I can manipulate it to my liking.

This one is kind of interesting, I'm a little unsure on the idea of having the menu like that at the bottom but who knows it might work.

This one isn't all that bad if you want to really focus on photography. This seems to be the best one but I haven't screwed around with the other themes as much.

This isn't too bad either, I kind of like the way the dates are on there but I'm not sure about the menu system, it looks rather lazy and ugly.

wow, you'd think they would try harder to make the demo look better. The images are blurry and ugly in the demo and the fonts look like crap too but then going to your site it looks nice and clean. That's shameful IMO.

Have you messed with any of the others?

I can't seem to find a download for the autofocus theme.

never mind, I found it, had to use google to search WP.

I found the newer version and have been messing with it. I saw Fancybox in the setting for it and have been trying to get it to work but it's opening images really weird for some reason. It's opening the page for the image in the same window instead of just opening the image only. Do you know anything about that?
    1. jacobsen1's Avatar
      nope, I don't use fancybox.

what are you using to display your images?

I figured out the problem I was having but IDK, I might switch to a different system. I'll have to see more of what's out there.

I also really need to start publishing more on my site. After I changed it up to be more photo specific it really shows just how little I have been actually publishing to the site. I'm going to redo my portrait contracts and just put in the fact that the images will go up on the site regardless.

      slimbox2?

Slimbox2 doesn't seem all that different than fancybox other than a couple minor cosmetic differences. Any reason you chose that over the others?

It seems they all use jquery as well.

Also from what I'm reading slimbox is a cut down version of lightbox.

I tried out slimbox and wasn't too into what they had available, none of the plugins seem to have easily changed setting in them. Slingbox really has that down and makes adjusting it a lot easier.
