i recall going on an alaskan cruise in 2000, that my camcorder stopped working. it was due to heavy fog, seeping moisture into the camera and thus destroying it for good. this wasnt covered under warranty. are camcorders still subjective to this? i want to go back and take some video but i dont know of any good cams that can withstand the cold.

other than battery capacity, cold isn't such a big thing--it's bringing it back in from the cold that'll get the thing dripping with condensation.

i would look into a waterproof bag/sack into which you can throw some desiccant along with the camera.
