so, here's what i ordered...
Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di II
(http://www.amazon.com/Tamron-Autofocus-18-200mm-3-5-6-3-Pentax/dp/B0007WK8NK/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1214412083&sr=1-9)

I like the thought of a 18-200mm lens.

However, I'd worry that a great all over focal length lens is a master at nothing. I don't know if that makes sense. I would just feel better having a 70-200 that rocks at 70-200.

^ I think stuff like that gets said a lot, and there is truth to it. But, considering the type of photography Daniel does--very eclectic, roaming around the city type stuff--it seems ideally suited to him and his style.

There are compromises with all lenses.

the pentax line is super limited anyway, i don't have the conveniences of every lens maker making 40 lenses for my body so i "sacrifice" and buy old glass.

this lens has the best range, for the best price and has good reviews for my camera so i jumped on it

jacobsen1
06-25-2008, 02:39 PM
plus for ~$200, why not?

and to me, at worst, it'll make one hell of a P&S camera IMHO. At best it'll take awesome shots. Win win, no?

iunno
06-25-2008, 02:41 PM
yeah dude, it was $225 with a 62mm UV filter

i don't **** around

PhatheadWRX
06-25-2008, 02:51 PM
can't beat that price! nicely done.

Not to mention a P&S with over 11x Zoom :D

iunno
06-25-2008, 02:52 PM
yeah, i'll be stoked to step up to canon one day

:unamused:

i wish pentax made a $550 70-200mm f/4

word, so it's a 27-300. I'd actually love something like that without any sacrifice in IQ to pair with my 10-20.

Me too. Me too.

I was just thinking the other day. "what if all of my gear was stolen?"
Then I immediately thought, "I would use the insurance money to get the K20D."
Switching brands never crossed my mind. I love Pentax.

Once their Market share grows, and it will, they will offer a better selection of lenses.

case sensitive

1.5x crop, all the kXXXd and kxxd line cameras are 1.5x crops

all their dslrs are 1.5x crop.

very nice purchase. i have a tamron 28-200. it's not too bad, but not that great either. it is a good compromise lens. i prefer using my 70-200 (when it's not broken) and 18-55.

srsly, i wish all my caps were like that. would make taking the cap off, and puting it back on with the hood in place THAT MUCH EASIER! [edit. FU and your speedy typing]

nice buy, im a bit jealous..

canon's caps suck.

You can actually buy knockoffs on eBay or B&H sells the real tammys. I have a few in varying sizes, but I can't stand having half centers and half nons, so I'm not using them right now.

07-02-2008, 01:42 AM
I really need one for the 10-20. The hood on it makes getting the cap off IMPOSSIBLE, especially since it's so slim.

Are your killer landscape shots in Sharing with this zoom monster?
