I took this photo near the Doha bay in pretty harsh light. I'm trying to use PS (7) to blue-en up the sky a bit, but I guess there's just not enough colors to begin with since the aperature wasn't set small enough. I'd like to deepen the yellow a bit too. Creating a duplicate layer doesn't really do much for me. Help? I'm a PS noob.

Here's what I came up with--not sure if that's what you're looking for, but it's what I could do with this one.

I can explain most of the steps if you really want, but much of it was trial and error until I got the look I wanted. And to do that, I had to use some different tools than I normally would.

Thanks for the work. Yeah, I was playing around a little with it earlier and got something to look more or less like that. I think the picture might be too blown out to do what I want with it. It's really, really hard to take decent photos around here in the desert. The white sand everywhere screws up my lighting.

You might want to select the blue color in the hue/sat tool and bump up the saturation. So far everyone has also bumped up the contrast which I'm not sure is what you want.

A polarizer may help, but because the sun appears to be just off the left edge of the frame, it's not going to help 100%.

How's that?

^^^^ Is this one layer or something? Why is there a halo effect around the machine?

Just one layer, opened it in Camera RAW, upped the vibrance, a little blue and yellow saturation, then when i took out the noise, I think I over did it and made the halos. I didn't notice, I was tired.
