I think this could be a lot of fun.

Download this .dng file of one of my California Pics.

http://prolificphotography.com/images/IMAGES/EditThis.dng

Edit it the way you see fit and post your result here.

it is the non super duper over processed RAW version of this http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2160/2433197426_58bf009e0d_o.jpg

All I ask is that you do not distribute or print this file.

I'm using Linux at the moment, so here's my poor attempt using only the adjustments available in the UFRaw raw converter. It doesn't even have a sharpening control. I refuse to use Gimp at the moment, and I don't have Photoshop on the Win partition, so this is all I've got.

Edit: Damn, I started screwing with it before I saw your crazy version above.

Edit2: OK, I re-did it a bit in Gimp. Trying to do proper borders sucks in Gimp, btw.

Edit3: Nevermind. I can't stand editing without decent tools. The RAW converter works fine in Linux but everything else seems to blow. Maybe I'll try Cinelerra next.

I like Scotts.

In fact, I'm not even going to attempt this one as that would be pretty close to what I'd be doing.

Its just interesting to see how different it comes out depending on who's processing.

Nice thread shawn, thanks for letting us play with you image. Also, for the record, this is the first shot I've converted to sRGB before posting to make sure it looked right here compared to how I PSed it...

Wow Ben, I think that is my favorite so far. They all look great though. It is interesting to see the different takes on the same photograph.

Thanks.

yeah, I think I'm going to make a point of sharing more files in here for this reason. It's fascinating to me to see how we all take the same file and get different result.
