g/f was prowling Craigslist, and we found a 5D with 24-105 F4 for $1300
Then looking around we found like 3-4 more of them from 1000 with no lens to 1200 with 2 crap zooms..
Are these scams or what??!
Why are they being DUMPED on craigslist, but going for 15-1700 on FM?

^ yep. on ebay you can research the seller to see f they are legit. search their username in the forums and go through their feedback. most likely if it's too good to be true...

and definitely don't buy off of craigslist unless it's local and you can inspect the item first. many scams are run through there.

Good thing for me that I don't think in terms of money. And I absolutely love my camera, otherwise I might cry.

Yea, the only way Id buy it is if it is local and I can hold it while I give them cash :)
I emailed - figured worst is they tell me to send a MO for it

cl is no different than any other classifieds section... sometimes you can get GREAT deals if your timing is right.

you guys should see the dining room table i bought for $250 last year. with both leaves it'll seat 12-14 ppl! couple of dings/scratches, and no chairs, but the table was likely 10x that when bought new. my wife had been scanning for a DR table for months before this one came up, and eventually it paid off.

that said, it was something that i could go drive to see and inspect before handing over the dough. i think cl works best that way.
