I guess we're growing, because last week, out of the blue, I was approached (via email) about 2 new affiliate systems. Both do the same thing, take existing links on the forum and see if they have an account with that vendor. If so, then they swap the link out (on the fly) so that it becomes their affiliate link. This is something I could do with say B&H links and my own affiliate code, but it's far too much work to try to keep up with them. They have a script that runs in the background doing this all automatically for us. The good news is it means you don't have to remember to use the big links. This also means we now have ~5000 affiliates and they're global, not just US.

So, the way this works, for you to help the forum, is it's now much easier to buy something and use the links. If you use an existing link from a thread, you're golden, it's taken care of. Check out this post:

yeah yeah, there's other threads on this.

But Andy, Jeff, Eric, Shawn etc.
Which holders for 4x6 filters suck the least? I actually like my cokin holder for the Xs, but it's only 3 pieces where I think the Z holder is a BUNCH (so you can remove parts). Is there another holder option that's not cost prohibitive? Also, what sort of filter holders/pouches do you guys have? I think adorama has a good one right? And which filter is the best bang for your buck in terms of IQ/colors and price? I don't need the most expensive thing out there, but more neutral than cokin might be good?

I'm looking forward to having normal sized filters again though, the the option for panel NDs... :)
I'm looking at just getting a cokin setup though as it's what I have now and cheap:
grad kit w/holder: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387468-REG/Cokin_CU960_Z_Pro_U960_Pro_Graduated.html
77mm ring: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387404-REG/Cokin_CZ477_77mm_Z_PRO_Adapter_Ring.html
6-stop: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387089-REG/Cokin_CZ155_Z_PRO_155_Neutral_Density.html#feature s
10-stop: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387091-REG/Cokin_CZ156_Z_PRO156_Neutral_Density_NDX.html#feat ures

right click the links (just right click, don't pick anything off the menu) then left click somewhere else, THEN hover... You should see the new link structure. That's just so you can see that it's working. If you NORMALLY just click the link, the code still works and NSOP still gets the credit. So it's something that runs in the background and I could just not say anything about, but I like to be very transparent on how things work around here.

So if you buy something where the link is ALREADY posted, as I said, you're good to go. This should help a bit. But if you WANT TO HELP ME OUT.... Post your links in this thread, then click them, THEN buy. This way you don't have to find the item again, you're using the URL from the page you've already found, but by accessing the page from a link HERE, NSOP gets the affiliate %.

This works with 5000 sites, so I'm not even sure where it doesn't work, but it DOES work with adorama, B&H and amazon to name a few. Ebay too. I'd basically just post anything you're shopping for in here and I'll be able to tell after you buy it if it works.

The top level links to B&H and the other affiliates still work, and thank you for using them. But I know they're a PITA because you can't follow a specific product link to there, but it, and help us out. You have to find it again once you're there. This gets around that issue.

Thanks!
Ben

I can look up anyone you're curious about, but I can't find a list. I emailed them asking for one though.

bump!

Anyone shopping with amazon, PLEASE USE THIS NEW "SYSTEM"!!! I get more money using the skimlinks account than if you use the forums own link!!!

Just post the link of the amazon item you want into this thread, click THAT link to go buy it and I get the commission! :)

Also, if you don't want to post what you're buying in this thread for privacy reasons, PM YOURSELF A LINK TO THE ITEM, That still works. ;)

Amazon via a link to the specific item pays me more than any other affiliate, so if you can buy something with them and link it, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

check my edit/add on too Shawn, for those that don't want to post links that people can see what you're buying, just PM them to yourself, I just checked, it works. :)
