Canadian camera shops prices have come down in recent months/years as their currency equaled the US or was actually worth more. But in the last few months it's come down under the USD again, so you can effectively buy your gear discounted by ordering from Canada and having it shipped down. Also, with canon gear at least, the warranties are US/Canada on US gear anyway, so you're getting the same card/warranty. Not sure on other companies.

I got this from here:

he claims to have learned it from FM.com... YMMV, not my problem if you have warranty issues, but it might be worth a shot to save 20% on just about anything....

But is it free shipping? And are there any import duties you have to pay?

I'm tempted by this, but waiting for the hospital bills to hit first.

Just checked shipping at henry's--$12.95 flat rate to the US.

yeah... I mean, we have insurance, but there's still a deductible and max out-of-pocket to meet. Shouldn't be too bad, but all major purchases are on hold till I see the bills.

I'm anal like that when it comes to finances, even though I know I can pay the bills off, interest free, over a long period of time.

you pay shipping (<$20) and no import fees or duties (but they warn you to avoid UPS). Some states require you to submit purchases like this for a "use tax", RI is one, but they technically require the same for B&H purchases for me....

For you yanks, I also like cameracanada.com -- their selection isn't as big but their prices are usually better than most around here (but not always).

There's also vistek.ca which has a really nice selection.

I missed it when the Canadian dollar was worth something.

Now it's expensive to travel again :(

I think it's one of those "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it" kind of places.

Despite the fact that they also sell relatively pedestrian lines like Hamilton.

Still seems about the same price to me.
I am sure you would have to find a canadian sale.

For example 100mm macro:
528.20 CAD

=

427.269 USD

Canada Dollars
1 CAD = 0.808916 USD
United States Dollars
1 USD = 1.23622 CAD
Add the ~12-20$ for shipping, and you get the same price as:

449$ from amazon with free, or Prime shipping.
