meh, nothing there that blows my hair back. :(

580EXII seems like the best rebate.
Wish there were more primes on there.
70-200 f/4 would be nice too.

I've owned all buy 1 of the non EF-S lenses on that list at some point. :unamused: And the one I haven't owned I'll be buying as soon as I sell another one of my TS-Es....

How do you go about with the rebates? Idk if it qualifies since I bought it online, never worked with Canon rebates before.

they're instant rebates--so just buy the lens!

So Ben, was the 16-35 really too big/heavy to deal with?

I just didn't like the price for what it is. Personally, I find 2.8 isn't fast enough inside, so I use a faster prime (the 24). Outside the 17-40 is more than fast enough. The weight is noticeable, but not a deal breaker for sure (where with the 70-200 the weight alone is almost a deal breaker).

I just LOVE my f4 zooms for travel/landscape shooting, and when I need "fast", I want really fast, not 2.8 fast. So for me, what I have works really well.

most good new retailers (B&H, adorama, etc) take it off when you pay, but there should still be a mail in form that you can fill out and send in and hope you get back. ;)

Actually, us1photo.com is listing it $10 more than I paid for it (I paid $519). I still think I got a really good price for it. Maybe that's why it is that price...iunno

I'm pretty much in the same boat, and that's what I figured you'd say. Just poking and prodding my lens inventory to see if/where the weaknesses are.

What I really want is the 14mm, but it's Texa$$. :(

^ It's only 2.8 though, so worthless to me. :unamused: The 20mm is tempting, but not enough wider IMHO to have both, and I just love my 24 (on FF, it's "ok" on the cropper)...

I've been punting with the 15mm FE on the cropper lately.

And yes the 15mm FE on a crop is awesome.

you try shooting around the house with just one or 2 bare bulbs. :unamused:

I'd argue no. I love it's distortion on FF, but on a 1.6 it's like a weirdly wide 24mm lens. Not right, but not wrong enough to be cool. It's just working for me in a bind right now. :unamused: but it does have me considering a 11-16 for now, while I'm stuck with a cropper.

I do all the time, I just buy the 10000W bulbs for my two light fixtures.

Why would you only have one or two bare bulbs? ibbenneedsalamportwo?

how many lights do you have on around your house at night when you're relaxing? We have 2 lamps on in the room we hang out in mostly. When we're in the kitchen it's 2 lights in there as well. The bedroom Elias is in has 3 on a track, then the bathroom has a few more. But yeah, in any given room in our house we'll have 2~3 lights on typically (all CFLs). The kitchen can be the exception as there are 4 cans, 3 bulbs in the main fixture, the stove hood and then one more lamp. Typically when we're cooking we have 6 on, but then 1 or 2 for the rest of the night in the entire house.

Wow, decent price for the 50D, but seriously, is it even worth it to go from a 40D to a 50D?

I think I would rather get a 5D for a few hundred dollars more and have a FF sensor.

from 40->50, I would say no.

On black Friday Slickdeals, I saw the 40D body for $650 and XSi body for $450
