I've seen on other photography forums an option under each username that can be clicked yes/no in each individual profile. It says simply enough, "Ok to edit photos", meaning that that person does not care if you take whatever they post and photochop away at it. Some people are very particular with what they show off and would take offense to anyone messing with their work. Others are more care free and enjoy seeing other people's particular take on a photo. With a setting like this it would be obvious as to who is who.

I haven't seen the backend of SMF, but how hard would it be to set up a custom profile field? And does this even seem necessary?

I think it's a good idea. Could turn into another thread/forum "Look what I did to your ___ picture"?

We already have custom fields working to get what's in our profiles up there. I'm pretty sure I'll have to hand code it to show up, but we can do this.

My only thought is that the PP this section implies it's OK, and that in the other sections we shouldn't be messing with stuff... IE they posted it there to show off, so it is what it is. If everyone wants it, I'll add it, just wondering if it's worth the clutter.

I think it's a good idea in theory, but I have to agree with Ben having things being too cluttered.

Maybe we could have a small icon that signifies if we want/don't want people to mess with our stuff?

I do like boobs' idea for a forum though...

Yeah but that was part of Ben's post... we already have a forum for that: the PP requests forum.

I think if someone wants their picture toyed around with, they can post it in the PP forum. Otherwise it should just be a standard rule to not touch other peoples photos unless asked or permission is given in advance.

I think you should just ask on a case by case basis outside of the PP section.

Agreed, which is why I have conflicting views on this. On one hand, I love to see how people edit things differently, and it would be cool to just see what people take on their own initatiave and do,

On the other hand, I sometimes don't want people toying around with things I've spent hours on...

Asking for individual photos is proally the best answer...

Yep, that's why I did it like I did... If you want it messed with, go to PP. If you don't, go to sharing/critique. If someone has an idea outside of PP, they ask and you OK it on a case by case basis. That way you don't have a "it's OK to edit my pictures" tag on all your threads... The other aspect of that is that it might make people feel more open to stealing shots that are shared here... Not members mind you...
